Finish mop is designed specifically to absorb and apply floor finish on to the floors. An ideal finish mop has high absorbency rate with a smooth, streak free and fast release so that it provides an even coating to the flooring. The normal sizes of this type of mops are large, medium and small. Preferable choose the mop which features looped end or tapeless tailband as it ensures a complete, even and smooth coverage without any missing sports or gaps when applying the coats.
These finish mops are commonly made from rayon, nylon, synthetic fiber or rayon nylon blends. The rayon mops absorb moisture well which gives good release. The nylon yarn finish mop is able to glide smoothly over the floor surfaces and release the finishes rapidly. It is able to hold the liquid wax with surface tension that allows the spreading of the finishes evenly and completely onto the surface areas. The unique feature of nylon yarn is that it is able to hold the waxes and applied directly to the surface area without absorbing them. This prevents wastage and provides cost saving of the floor finishes. This high tech continuous filament yarn provides lint free shine flooring. Another type is the synthetic yarn flat mop which provides wider coverage areas and leaves glossier finish. It usually comes with snap closures and nylon mesh backing.
The block and pad applicator is also another alternative in applying the floor finish. It is designed for easy application of smooth even finishes which is similar to using a push broom to sweep a room. Two plastic or wooded blocks are normally secured together in holding the applicator pad. These pads are commonly made from genuine lambswool or synthetic lambswool. This applicator block is designed to screw or fasten easily to any mop or broom handle. It can be washed easily with any cleaning detergents. Besides, the nylon floor finishes application system which is relatively new and costly in the market is mainly used by the cleaning specialist. It is usually used to apply high solids floor finish for a thick layer of coating in a single application. This system is suitable to use in large areas or spaces such as commercial offices, long hallways, gymnasiums, hotels and cafeterias.
