There are various types of whisks available in the market and some are designed to suit different cleaning tasks. Hence, many people buy and keep various types of mops for their regular cleaning routine so that cleaning job will be much easier and quicker if the right type of whisk is used.

Sponge whisk

Generally a sponge whisk has a synthetic mop head as an absorbent and attached to a wringer. It is suitable to be used wet and cleaning any types of surfaces in small areas. It can also used to apply floor wax and good in cleaning tiles. Usually this item has removable head so that it can be rinsed and washed easily. The sponge whisk has replacement cleaning head which can be replaced when necessary especially when it begins to discolor, smell or break apart. It must be maintained properly to prevent any spreading of bacteria. Sponge whisk is lightweight because it is commonly made from lightweight plastic and the price is greatly affordable.

Wet brush

Wet brush is commonly used to clean floors with water which includes traditional cotton brush and synthetic blend wet brush. It usually made of cotton rayon blend or just cotton. It is designed to clean on any type of surfaces especially hard flooring. The wet brush head can be categorized into 2 styles either a straight cut ends or a looped ends.

Traditional cotton brush is a good choice because of its superior absorbency, scrubbing power and strength. Some heads can absorb five to ten times their weights in water allowing faster cleaning and excellent in drying wet areas or picking up spills. This item is usually available in different sizes which are 32oz, 24oz, 20oz and 16oz. A bigger size of the wet mop needs to be used for a larger surface area of the brush. It is recommended to choose a medium size  for household use as it should not be too heavy for routine house cleaning job. The bigger size of the equipement is suitable for commercial cleaning use because it always involve large mop space area. As compare to other mops, the traditional cotton brush is relatively difficult to maintain and difficult to wring because the head is relatively heavier. Most of the brands in the market offer replacement cotton heads which are easy to replace.

Synthetic blend wet swab is commonly in strips and attached with a wringer. This item is easy to maintain and convenient to use as no force is need to apply to wring the swab as it has a built in wringer. However, its absorbency and scrubbing power is not as great as traditional cotton swab.

Dust duster

Dust duster is usually designed as a dry cleaning tool in removing dust and dirt particles from the floors, ceilings, walls, light fixtures, ceiling fans and huge furniture. It is a suitable cleaning tool to be used in the workplace or at home. The item can be used on any surfaces such as tile floors, concrete floors, hardwood floors, marble floors, etc.

The equipment is commonly made from fluffy or soft material such as cotton with rayon or nylon backing, yarn wool, synthetic fiber and microfiber. A long handle is usually fixed to the dust swab allowing the user to clean the hard to reach area such as dusty ceilings, fans and corner cobwebs. The handle is commonly made of lightweight plastic, aluminum or hardy wood.

Flat sweeper

Flat sweeper is great for daily usage on routine cleaning job. This type of mop usually has a refillable or disposable pad that attached to its flat head. It can be used on any type of surfaces which includes hard wood or laminate flooring. This flat mop can be used damp or dry. It is easy to use, durable and can clean hard to reach areas especially corners. Some of the flat sweeper brand has a 360 degree swivel action that allows a user to clean the underneath and around the furniture. This makes cleaning job much easier and cleaner. Besides, the mop refill is easy to replace and machine washable.

Finish Mop

The finish mop is used to apply floor finish on the floor when a floor finish or wax is recoated on the floor. An effective and good finish mop should easily glide over the floors when applying the wax or floor finish. It should release and leave an even layer and smooth finish on the floor. The finish mop is usually made of rayon & nylon blend or good quality filament nylon yarn. High tech and good quality filament yarn doesn’t leave lint in the floor finish. It is difficult to remove lint in the floor finish unless using wax stripper. Lint free finish mop is available in the market by some brands and is competitively priced.
